| "FRISBEE TEETH"-- NOTE THE WORN-DOWN CANINES |
Our Aussie Trooper is a fantastic "Frisbee" player, and riding arenas are a great place to play the game with him.
We learned the hard way, though, that if the Frisbee used is too stiff and hard, the dog's canines will become excessively
worn. Luckily, we noted the problem before it got so bad that it required a tooth extraction or root canal.
One of our boarders told us about the "Kevlar UFO Flying Saucer," which is very soft and said to be made out
of the same material used in bullet-proof vests. We haven't noted any more wear of the canines since using this toy.
There's a link below to one of several websites that sells the product. It's advertised as "bite resistant,"
but we've found that if it's left around for dogs to chew on or play tug with, it will tear and become ruined. The disk sells
for about $16 to $19 and coupled with shipping charges, the total cost we paid last time we ordered one was $25, so use it
only to play "Frisbee" and then put it away for safe keeping.
There are other similar toys advertised as being soft; we've included a link to one below.
Click here for a link to the Hyperflite SofFlite Pup Disc. I haven't tried this one but it's advertised as "ultra-soft."
